About Us – Andrew

by snikki on August 10, 2009

Andrew’s first visual memory is that of the white upright piano in Singapore (the one his Father ultimately took an axe to,) Hell and the dark forces lived at the bottom, Heaven and the Angels at the top – they would play battles through his fingers and he was hooked.

If you know Andrew, you know that he plays the piano, it’s just something he does: in people’s houses, bars, shows, etc., he’s a mess when he does not play for extended periods. Andrew believes that listening to music is “good for you,” like air, food and sex – you can hear Andrew’s passion over at music2work2.

Last Chance is the first movie he has worked on and he is absolutely loving it. You can follow Andrew on Twitter here

About Us – SAmi

by snikki on August 9, 2009

SAmi is a computer graphics geek. His interest in animation started in 1988, equipped with an Amiga 500 and a VCR, he made his first episodic straight to video series, “Madontappo”. It must be noted that the audience was rather modest, one person.

Everything got put on hold for many years after the Amiga got traded in for a PC, which wasn’t quite up to par making animation until 1997 when 3D came along.

SAmi believes vices don’t exist and are merely badly represented opportunities.

He rolls around on an Arbor skateboard not because it’s green – but because it’s easier to enjoy the sunshine.
His other mental ramblings can be seen at: http://www.sami-nikki.com/blog

Production office

by snikki on August 6, 2009

Should really be the bar down the street.
Most of the work has been done on the laptop. Because there’s so much to render I had to get an extra workstation to help out. So this is the space where it’s happening. Nice sunny view of the garden in the morning. 2 blocks away from Main street in Vancouver.

Still perfect

by snikki on August 5, 2009

Today was supposed to be all serious and spiritual and whatnot. My old neighbour Milton put a healthy dose of sweetness into the art by requesting breasts. The shot I’m working on today is supposed to be this heart torus thingie… but there’s all this empty space on either side – widescreen. Problem solved, pair of beautiful breasts on either side and we’re done.
Here’s the reference I will use. Creative commons license and everything. Very nice.

Offerings and Rebirths

by snikki on August 3, 2009

Here’s the inspiration for the offering to the Great Spirit shot. It takes place towards the end – where modern man has fallen and has to rebuild himself without the old rejected values.
I was looking for a water type setting where a claw holding a goblet is rising from murky waters. This image had the dramatic grasping going on that I was looking for.
The colors are going to be more maroon and green… puke like… since it’s more of a purging.

Briefly stuck in a 15 min timeloop

by snikki on August 2, 2009

Didn’t quite know how this was going to relate to the movie – but it did. Got stuck in a 15 min timeloop yesterday. Sunglasses went missing. Helped some lady jump the fence to escape hospital and get on the subway. There’s some dark places in Vancouver.
Long story short – managed to write the project brief and design a DVD cover with some help from friends.

Here’s a picture that somewhat sums up the whole experience.
